We Are Writers 2020

This is the second Banks Road anthology of writing, following our first publication on the book Tuesday by David Wiesner in Summer 2019. This time, rather than following a theme like we did previously, we used the final piece of our writing lessons at the end of a half term.

At Banks Road we use the Read To Write approach to teach writing. This approach empowers teachers to provide high-quality teaching of writing through high-quality literature. These detailed units of work centre on engaging, vocabulary-rich texts, with a wealth of writing opportunities within and across the curriculum.

The writing you will find in this book is the 'hot task' piece of writing. Children work with their teacher to first immerse themselves in a model text. They then analyse the text before planning. Finally, after days of work, they write using all the tools they have discovered along the way.
